How to Play

Below you’ll find a list of the main characters to choose from. Please view them & make a mental note of your top TWO characters you would like to play - you will need this when you submit your meal form.

The murderer and the victim will be chosen at random during the party. So do not worry about this when choosing your characters - just pick someone you think would be fun to play!

On the night of the wedding, you’ll receive a sealed folder containing your character with a personal script and secrets. Inside, you’ll discover your motives, relationships, and private objectives—everything you need to play your part to perfection. The evening unfolds in a series of rounds, each with its own twists, discoveries, and drama. Your script will guide you through each one as you mingle, eavesdrop, and unravel the truth.

The night begins innocently enough—cocktails, conversation, and charm. But once the murder occurs, the atmosphere will shift. Suddenly, every guest becomes a suspect.

Who can you trust? Who’s lying? And who will uncover the truth before the night is through?

Game Strategies

The objective of the game is to use the game clues to uncover the truth (be the first to do so) — and keep your own reputation clean.  Each character has secrets, connections, and hints written into their script.

Here’s where the strategy comes in:

  • You can act suspicious or drop hints that make people think you might be guilty — this keeps others talking to you and might help you gather more clues.

  • Or, you can divert suspicion by spreading believable rumors, exposing others’ secrets, or “accidentally” leading people down the wrong trail.

  • The fun is in the chaos — bluffing, accusing, connecting dots, and trying to stay one step ahead.

  • During this round all players will get the opportunity to introduce their characters. This can be read from the script or improvised for those who are more comfortable with their acting skills.

There will also be a rumours round allowing characters to spread some dirt about other characters. This can be improvised or read from the script.

  • EVERYONE has a motive (reason they could’ve killed the victim).

During this round the detective will be introduced (the host runs this part of the game). The detective will present clues and evidence about the case.

You will get to quiz other players to find out more about what they have done, seen, or heard throughout the night that might be used as evidence later

This round includes script but can be improvised if players choose to embellish on their act.

  • During this round you will find out more about how the crime was committed.

You will again get to quiz players and using your combined knowledge of their background, motives, and personalities, you will narrow down your suspects.

  • Utilising further information from the detective including more evidence you will find out who had the opportunity the carry out the crime.

You will again get to quiz players and review evidence to narrow down your suspects.

This round includes scripts but can be improvised should there be players who are more comfortable.

  • This is the time you get to prepare an accusation of whodunit and why.

Using your improv skills you can keep this as brief or as detailed as you want.

Now you will finally find out whodunit.

Each player will have a guilty or innocent script to either read from or improvise.

    Let the guilty confess!

Character Descriptions

  • Male; Suzy Cue’s dance partner and party date. They’re the national Charleston contest winners. He enjoys dancing and is good at it, but it’s not his real business. It doesn’t pay enough; he’s been working as a smalltime crook but is wanting to get into the bigger things. He hoped he could meet some influential people at parties like this one, but it’s not worked out for him so far. He’s not really smart enough to be a successful villain.

  • Gender open. They’re the bandleader, large and in charge, full of confidence and an amazing musician. They’re charming, smooth, flirty and jazzy. They know they’re good at what they do and so they expect everyone to listen to them. They can be very bossy and very demanding and not everyone likes that. They put a lot of time and money into the band and some members are more expensive than others. Money is a bit tight right now, and they’re hoping to f ind a rich person to back the band.

  • Gender open. Avery Keyes is the Piano Player of a jazz band that performs at all the parties that Glittersby hosts. They’re a lover and a flirt. These parties provide a good distraction from life, which is hard. They live with their sister, who has recently been abandoned and left penniless thanks to a con artist who’s at this very party. Both Keyes and their sister have to work really hard just to keep a roof over their heads. Tonight was going to be the first night off in ages, but when they heard the person responsible for their suffering would be here tonight, they didn’t have a choice but to attend.

  • Male; very rich and full of himself. He’s married to Wanna DeBest and the pair of them are known at all the best (and worst) joints in town. Their wedding was a big event but their marriage is not a happy one. He was rich on his own, and so was she, and together they probably have the largest fortune in the state. Well he does, everything she owned now belongs to him and he keeps a very tight handle on it. He believes the money is his, to do what he wants with it and he does.

  • Female. She’s a tennis champion, the best in the state, better than most men they say, but no one will agree to play a match against her. She’s always looking for someone brave enough but has had no luck so far. It might be because accidents keep happening to people who challenge her title but that could just be a coincidence, couldn’t it? She’s not really into parties, she’s only here as a favor to a friend and to close a business deal which wasn’t fulfilled.

  • Female. She acts like a typical Gangster’s moll. She’s Shay D Sort’s date to the party at the moment, but pretends she’s on the lookout for a rich man. There’s more to her than meets the eye. Even though she may act like a dumb blonde, she’s sassy, confident and can hold her own. Her ditsy attitude is just an act, really she’s working undercover trying to bring criminals to justice.

  • Male. He’s the host of the party and a rich mansion owner, he never seems to run out of money, but he doesn’t seem to do anything. He has a very mysterious past that he never talks about and is always very sleek and secretive. He’s flirty and charming, everyone knows and likes him, he can turn the heads of most people, even married women, much to their husband’s annoyance, unless they’re obsessed with him to, which sometimes happens.

  • Male. Very Foppish, he’s in love with himself, thinks he’s the best-looking guy ever. He works as a movie star escort, so celebrities pay him to be their date for parties and things. It’s good money but it does mean it’s quite hard to get someone’s attention, girls should be throwing themselves at him but when he shows up with a famous person no one wants to get involved with him and it can be very frustrating. He’s been working with Mimi Crye for a while now but is starting to tire of her and wants a new date.

  • Gender open. The best Bartender in the state. They have heard it all, everyone pours their hearts out to the bartenders, they listen and nod and smile but they really don’t care and their sympathy is insincere. Jinn knows about drinks and knows the exact amount of “special stuff” to put in to make a customer blab their deepest darkest secrets, or just go to sleep and shut up. It’s not a bad living selling celebrity secrets to people. Want to know what’s really going on? Ask the staff...

  • Female. A glamorous movie star. She’s the biggest thing on the silver screen right now. She’s young, rich, and beautiful. Ok maybe she has a really annoying voice and is overly dramatic but she’s a silent movie star so it only really matters what she looks like, not what she sounds like. She’s come to this party because it’s where all the stars go at the moment. Of course, she has to be part of the in scene. She’s had a few problems with men getting a bit too obsessive, but you can always pay someone to take care of those little problems and she does.

  • Gender open. They’re a server at Glitterby’s parties; smart and fairly down to earth most of the time, although they do get a bit angry about the fact that no one shows them any respect. Servers are basically invisible to the rich folk, or if they do notice them, it’s only to talk down to them. They get their revenge though by listening in on conversations. People talk if they can’t see someone. They like to eavesdrop and then spread rumors around the other parties and things.

  • Gender open. They were not invited to this party, which annoyed them, and so they decided to gatecrash instead. They try to blend in and act like they belong, but that makes them come across as overly friendly. They did have an ulterior motive for crashing this specific party on this particular night though; they wanted to have a word with some of the guests about an incident that happened with one of their relatives.

  • Gender open. They’re related to the victim. They love to party and are a frequent face at every single party that anyone who is anyone ever hosts. They’re quite shy and awkward at first, but when they get rather drunk they suddenly find their confidence and want to kiss absolutely everyone, it doesn’t matter their gender. However, they can get quite moody if their advances are rejected and then they might do something stupid.

  • Female; Tragg Starr’s date tonight. She’s one of the few women who are actually part of an off icial cheerleading team at college as it’s quite a new thing. She’s very cheerful and energetic, she loves talking, she’s friendly to everyone and this can be rather intense for people. She lacks confidence in herself as she’s not as pretty or agile as some other girls so she uses the cheerfulness to compensate and to hide her insecurities. Tragg only asked her to the party because the girl he originally wanted to take got injured somehow...

  • Female. She’s the singer in the band. She has a beautiful voice but prefers to sing the blues. She’s a drug addict suffering from a broken heart and a lot of her pain comes out in her music. She was starting to get better but she wasn’t expecting her ex-lover to be at this party, seeing him again sent her back on a downward spiral, but would she really commit murder? They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned so who knows what she’d be capable of if she got angry instead of sad.

  • Male. He’s a gangster from Chicago, although he’s been trying to get out of the business and go legit for a while but some things just keep getting in the way and he always ends up getting his hands dirty. He’s got a short temper and isn’t the brightest. He’d never make it as a mob boss but he’s good for dirty jobs and has the muscle needed to stand beside the big boss guy and look intimidating. But all that is in the past and now he is trying hard to appear respectable.

  • Female. She’s a modern girl, with modern ideals, a Flapper and the national Charleston contest winner. She loves dancing and is willing to go to great lengths to make sure she’s the best. Her dance partner is Blake Boddum but there’s nothing more between them. She hates the idea of settling down into the traditional “wife” role. She’s a party girl and wants to remain so, she loves dancing and flirting and being taken to nice places and spoiled but she will never settle down.

  • Male. A young man whose currently studying in college. He’s athletic, captain of his team, and coach’s favorite. He’s good looking and he knows it. He pretends to be a “poor college student” but realistically he’s getting a free ride, his life isn’t difficult at all and that is just the way he likes it. He’s happy as long as things are going his way and he doesn’t have to work too hard. It’s when things don’t go his way that he can become quite aggressive.

  • Male. Glittersby’s Butler; he’s not a real butler, he’s a con man who lied to get his position. However, that doesn’t mean he’s not a good butler, he does a good job, although his main job is sniffing out secrets, something else he’s good at. He’s very discreet and very good at keeping secrets, if the price is right. He used his skills to find out as much as possible about the guests at the parties that Glittersby held, these secrets he would share with Glittersby but recently he’s been sharing secrets with other people who have been paying him even more. He’s not as loyal as he pretends to be.

  • Female, a rich society dame who thinks she’s better than everyone else. Is trapped in a loveless marriage to a wealthy older gentleman who keeps a tight grip on her and how much she can spend. She’s getting bored of attending tea parties, formal dances and dinner parties with royals and aristocrats, she’s still young and craves excitement. After putting a lot of pressure on her husband and making certain promises, she finally managed to convince him to bring her to a real party.
